"Writing is thinking on paper."

To ensure you have the facts, here are our detailed resources about paper and print.
If you are committed to sustainability, please ensure you print these documents before you read them. That way, in most cases you will use less energy than reading it on screen, you can read it again without using more energy and you can pass it on to someone else without the use of any further energy or other resources.

Any business that wants to make claims about its environmental credentials has to ensure it provides factual information to businesses and consumers. That's important for paper and print companies, but its also important for those who promote digital systems and computers, especially where they compare them to paper and print.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued guidelines on green marketing. In part, they state:
“Claims should consider the whole product life cycle – When making claims about a particular characteristic or part of a product, you should also consider the whole product life cycle. The manufacturing, recycling, destruction and disposal process should be taken into account before making any environmental claims regarding the relevant characteristic or part.”
This is one of many statements that encourage the paper and print industry because the lifecycle of paper starts with a renewable resource, often from independently certified forests and when compared to many other products, paper has a very high recycling rate.
